Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need of highly skilled Registered Nurses (RNs) with a minimum of one (1) year experience as a Correctional Registered Nurse in-patient experience, preferably with a background in working with juvenile patients who are incarcerated struggling with mood, anxiety, and other behavioral conditions in a variety of settings. Individuals should be comfortable working in a locked forensic environment with frequent interactions with law enforcement.
Pay Rate: $50/hr
Location: Downey, CA
Shift: 6A-4:30P, 2-10:20P must be able to cover weekends every other week -16 week contracts with high demand for renewals *This position follows an Alternative Workweek schedule. Under this arrangement, daily overtime is applicable only after 12 hours worked in a day.
Requirements
- Required certifications include active Registered Nurse license
- AHA BLS
- MAB or CPI
- LA City Fire and Life Safety card (must be LA City)
Clinical Experience Requirements
- At least 2 years of psychiatric /correctional health experience combined with medical-surgical or ER background.
Pure psych backgrounds alone are not sufficient, as nurses must be able to make rapid medical decisions independently when incidents or unpredictable situations occur at the work site before a provider or emergency services are needed.
- Nurses need to be proficient in blood draw.
Ideal Clinical Skills
- Experience working with antisocial or high‑risk populations (common in Psych or ER settings).
- Strong triage skills and the ability to respond to medical emergencies effectively.
